Twinkle Twinkle Little Star: Peyton Turns 1

Oh hey there! It’s me again… Remember me? Do ya? Do Ya?! 😉

I know, it’s been a while… Well, we survived the craziness that was the holiday season! And, oh yah, MY BABY TURNED ONE!!!! Hold Me.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 1st Birthday Party

Today I want to tell you all about little miss’s 1st birthday party!!!!! I poured my blood sweat and tears into this shindig (Side Note: I’ve decided that next year we are just ordering pizza lol but seriously…). I knew I wanted the party to be super girlie with lots of pink and sparkle! DUH. Being that little lady’s birthday is December 19th, my house was decorated for Christmas, so what’s a gal to do?! I went with the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Theme to make all my white Christmas lights tie right in! BOOM! Winning.

Here’s my dessert table set up (Some of the desserts are missing because they are in the refrigerator):

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 1st Birthday Party

I used Brown Craft Paper, White Chalk Pen, and cut out stars from glitter scrapbook paper for an easy and cheap sign! Add Balloons and Tassle Streamer and WHAM BAM! Done. I also made her highchair banner (Just tied all different ribbons to some string & painted a 1 on a burlap pendant I bought at Hobby Lobby! I used command stops to hang it off the High Chair!)

For This centerpiece: I just used glitter spray paint on some Paper Mache Hobby Lobby Letters! Added some cheap baby’s breath to a glass pitcher and a pink candle… and put it all on a mirrored tray I found at Homegoods. I loved how simple it was!

Family shot amidst the chaos 😉

Me and my sweet & sassy little ONE YEAR OLD… she’s the best! Tongue out & Tutu disheveled… typical.

OKAY. Let’s talk about the menu. Because let’s be honest… that’s the BEST PART!

THE FOOOOOOD.

I had originally planned to do a Build Your Own Gourmet Burger Bar (I had adorable chalkboard signs made and all the toppings done… I just had to go pick up the burger meat & buns the morning of her party)…

So here’s the thing: I wake up on the day of Peyton’s party feeling like DEATH.

Turns out I had THE. STOMACH. FLU. Like… Full on “on the bathroom floor in the fetal position ALL DAY” stomach flu. I was too sick to even cry about all the perishable toppings and food that would have to be given away or thrown in the garbage. AWFUL. And because it was right before Christmas I had to reschedule her party for January. UGH. Good Times. Thankfully my mom and grandma thought to freeze all the desserts for me so we were able to re-use those!

So after all of that - I honestly couldn’t even look at any of it & decided to go with a different Menu for her “party Take 2”. We went with a Southern BBQ menu. EASY. SCRUMPTIOUS. (And I was able make the pork way ahead and also buy the slaw and greens from a local BBQ joint to save me some time!)

PEYTON’S 1st BIRTHDAY MENU

Spinach Dip
Homemade Salsa
Pigs in a Blanket

Of course we had to do the token SMASH cake! Peyton LOVED having everyone sing to her… she had the BIGGEST smile on her face. Then it came time for her to get into the cake and she wasn’t so sure about it. I coxed her a little bit by sticking her hand in it and then she went to town playing with it and squishing the cake in her tiny hands. She didn’t want to eat it though! I would try to feed it to her and she would shake her head no (child has NO idea what she’s missing! haha)!

All in all the party was a success! We had a wonderful time with family and a few close friends!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE LADY! You are so incredibly loved!

Nice decorations. Can you please let me know where you got the “ONE” letters and the chalk board in the background of the desserts table from? My baby’s first birthday is fast approaching and trying to get things I might need. Thaks in advance.

The letters are from hobby lobby — I spray painted them with glitter paint.

And the twinkle twinkle little star behind the dessert table is brown Kraft paper that I wrote on & added glitter star cut outs to… Not a chalk board 🙂
